Day 4 - Zubiri to Pamplona

14.6 miles from Zubiri to Pamplona started in the dark with forest trails, podcasts, and coffee stops, then ended in the busy city with pintxos, rain, and sightseeing before resting for tomorrow’s long trek.

Day 3 - Roncesvalles to Zubiri

14.31 miles from Roncesvalles to Zubiri brought forest trails, missed turns, steep descents, and Spanish tortillas. After a long walk with friends, I reached town for wine, journaling, and planning before tomorrow’s trek to Pamplona.

Day 2 - Orisson to Roncesvalles

10.5 miles from Orisson to Roncesvalles brought brutal climbs, fierce winds, and steep rocky descents. After lunch on the trail, a pilgrim dinner, laundry, and planning ahead, I ended the day at the monastery hostel resting up for longer walks to come.

Day 1 - Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Orisson

4.95 miles from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Orisson brought steep climbs, rain showers, and mountain views. After a timed shower, communal dinner, and moving pilgrim stories, I ended the day resting at the busy hostel before tomorrow’s longer trek.

Exploring Saint Jean Pied de Port

My arrival day in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port included breakfast at the hostel, shopping for gear, getting my pilgrim passport and seashell, and meeting fellow hikers. After a communal dinner with new friends, I rested early to prepare for tomorrow’s first long trek on the Camino.
